FRONT DERAILLEUR
Your Pastey Frame has been built with the capability for a conventional top pull front derailleur. If in doubt seek advice from your friendly local bike shop. The seat tube diameter varies in thickness to cope with the higher stressed areas. At the front derailleur location it is 28.6mm diameter. This information should be passed on to your bike mechanic/shop.
Top pull. 28.6mm diameter tube at derailleur location.
SEAT POST SIZING
The outside diameter of the Howler seat tubes are 29.4mm. Although the seat tube size is quoted as 28.6mm in the technical specification it has been reinforced at the seat stay/seat post junction with a thicker tube walling (1.2mm).
For this reason you should use a 27.2mm diameter seat post for the Howler
Use a seat post clamp of at least 29.4mm diameter for the Howler (we recommend a 30mm Salsa seat post clamp).
FRAME CORRECTED FOR 100/105mm TRAVEL FORKS
The Howler, frames have been designed to be manoeuverable at light steering with a 100/105mm travel fork. A 80mm travel fork should be OK.
A 63mm travel fork will loose the light feeling up front, making the bike more difficult to flick around the trail.
A 120mm (or more) travel will give a "chopper" feel to the ride and manoeuverability will again suffer. 80-105mm forks are acceptable.
